Helping heroes with essential training funding in STL

Living In Action, Inc. (LIA) was founded in 2019 by Steve Sulze, owner of Xtreme Krav Maga & Fitness. With over 20 years of experience training first responders, Steve recognized a critical need: many police officers, firefighters, and EMTs were seeking advanced defensive tactics training beyond what they received in the academy. Unfortunately, this specialized training often came with a personal financial burden, forcing first responders to pay out of pocket.
LIA non-profit organization was created to remove that hurdle. By supplementing training costs, we make it possible for first responders to continue developing their skills—ensuring they can protect themselves and, in turn, better serve and safeguard our community.
Defensive tactics training gives first responders the real-world skills to stay safe and in control during high-stress situations.
Krav Maga is preferred because it’s practical, efficient, and designed for real-life encounters—not sport or competition.
With Xtreme Krav Maga, first responders gain proven techniques that increase confidence, reduce risks, and help protect the entire community.

“The training I received went far beyond what I learned at the academy. It gave me real-world confidence to handle situations safely and effectively. Without LIA’s non-profit support, I wouldn’t have been able to afford this level of training. Now I feel better prepared to protect not only myself but also the community I serve.”
— Police Officer, St. Louis
“After 15 years in EMS, I thought I’d seen it all—but this training opened my eyes. It gave me tools to stay safe on the job and de-escalate dangerous situations. Knowing that organizations like Living In Action are helping first responders get access to this kind of training means the world.”
— Paramedic, St. Louis County
“Xtreme Krav Maga training pushed me to be sharper, stronger, and more confident in my role as a firefighter. The skills I gained could literally save my life one day. I’m grateful for LIA stepping in to make this training possible for first responders like me.”
— Firefighter, St. Charles
“Most departments only cover the basics, and that leaves gaps when real danger hits. Thanks to the training I got through LIA’s support, I’ve been able to close those gaps. I feel more capable and our community is safer because of it.”
— Law Enforcement Officer, Jefferson County
Living In Action (LIA) provides supplemental funding to help first responders access advanced defensive tactics training programs. These programs go beyond what’s taught in the academy—building real-world skills in self-defense, situational awareness, and community protection. By removing financial barriers, LIA ensures first responders can stay safer on the job, which keeps all of us safer in our daily lives.
